Orlando Ahumada

Orlando was born and raised in South American Chile and came to Sweden in the 80s. Anyone who has ever danced for Orlando is very quickly captured by his commitment to the culture and the dance. The cues are significant with the emotions found in the dance floor; energy, passion, pulse and joy.

My Story

In 2017, Orlando celebrated 20 years as a dance teacher because he started teaching already in the last millennium, namely in 1997; which was the year when the blockbuster " Titanic" premiered and "Jack and Rose" became an accepted term for all teenagers and the "Union Jack" was flown for (probably) the last time in Hong Kong .

The personal dance career has been very successful, and Orlando has become both Swedish and Nordic champion in salsa, and has also won a bronze medal in the WC in the same discipline. He has also been the main character in the dance documentary "Two steps to heaven". Orlando has extensive experience teaching children and adults of all ages. In addition to Swedish dance assignments, he works not only in Sweden but also around the world, during 2017 he held workshops in both China and South America, for example.

Dancing for Orlando isn't just a once-a-week activity, it's a gateway to meeting like-minded people and making new friends; which can be said as the cohesion and social community in the various locations is very strong. Therefore, there are many dancers who have danced for many years, and also travel between the cities where Impulse is active. Orlando also has a large network of contacts internationally, which means that he collaborates with some of the world's leading dancers whom he attracts here for workshops; therefore, this is a dance school that is at the international forefront as the exchange is large. In fact, one might ask how does Orlando keep up with all the projects he has lined up? It is certainly because he loves what he does, and thus lives and inspires others in his great passion. In addition to dancing, Orlando is a recognized talented DJ and has therefore put Helsingborg, Halmstad and also Kristianstad on the map as "salsa cities", for us who have been "tricked" into this, we are therefore very happy that the itinerary to both Scanian cities is not more than an hour away. There are many of us who are grateful to have Orlando as both a friend and mentor, both on and off the dance floor.

At the pen, Ian Fernheden, "duped" student for several years.
